Corralejo is also the favourite holiday place for many Canarians from the other islands of Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, La Gomera, La Palma and Hierro. Corralejo was once a small fishing village but with the demand for more holiday villas and apartments it has now grown into a vibrant town. Fortunately, Corralejo has retained its character and charm and even in the town centre there are beautiful white sandy beaches to soak up the sun. |
Most of the shops, bars and restaurants are along and off the main street which leads down to the harbour where there are some wonderful local restaurants to try. From the harbour there is a regular ferry service over to Lanzarote run by Fred Olson and Armas Ferrys which will take you into the port of Playa Blanca. There is also a passenger ferry which will take you direct into Puerto Del Carmen and onwards to Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. To the tranquil island of Los Lobos one of the smaller boats can be taken as the distance is a mere twenty minutes or so. More about this island later.
